Tripura school ghost scare: several students faint after claim of ghostly figure at Moharcherra HS School
Teliamura, Tripura | July 26, 2025 — Panic broke out at Moharcherra PM Shri Higher Secondary School near Teliamura in Tripura on Friday after multiple students reportedly fainted following claims of a ghost sighting on the school premises.
According to eyewitnesses and students, a mysterious figure resembling a woman with long black hair, dressed in black, was seen emerging near the school’s bathroom area. One student reportedly threw a stick into a dark corner behind the building, after which the figure appeared, allegedly producing an eerie sound.
As fear spread, at least five students collapsed on the spot. The affected students — identified as Manojit Mondal (Class VI), Diya Debnath, Tanushree Sarkar, and Subhashree Debnath (Class VII) — were immediately rushed to the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors have kept them under observation and confirmed that they are currently stable.
Parents and local residents, citing previous rumours and unconfirmed past incidents at the school, have expressed concerns over the safety and psychological well-being of students. Some have demanded that the school authority reconstruct the bathroom facility and increase supervision in isolated areas of the campus.
School officials confirmed the incident and stated that the matter has been reported to higher authorities. The Tripura Education Department is expected to review the situation and consider further steps, including counselling and infrastructure safety checks.
While many attribute the event to superstition and collective fear, others have called for a thorough investigation to rule out any real security or mental health concerns.
The school remained open on Saturday, but attendance was visibly lower than usual.
