Agartala, June 26:
In a powerful demonstration of the state’s commitment to combating drug abuse and illegal trafficking, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha flagged off a Joint Motorcycle Rally in Agartala this morning, marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Organized under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the rally was jointly conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Agartala Zonal Unit, in collaboration with the District Administration of West Tripura. The event kicked off at 8:00 AM from the Umakanta Academy Playground and aimed to raise mass awareness about the dangers of drug use and the importance of community engagement in eradicating the menace.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha, who inaugurated the rally and served as the Chief Guest, emphasized the need for collective responsibility in building a drug-free society. “This is not just a government mission—it must be a people’s movement. The youth of our state deserve a future free from the clutches of drugs,” he said during the flag-off ceremony.
The rally was attended by a host of dignitaries and senior officials. Among the Guests of Honour were Shri J.K. Sinha, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Tripura; Shri Anurag, IPS, Director General of Police, Tripura; Shri R. Sudhakar, IPS, Deputy Director General (North East Region), Narcotics Control Bureau; and Shri Avula Ramesh Reddy, IPS, Head of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Tripura.

The event was coordinated under the leadership of Ms. Megha Jain, IAS, Additional District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura.
Participants in the rally included personnel from law enforcement agencies, civil administration, youth groups, and community leaders, all coming together to support the campaign for a substance-free society.
The initiative reaffirms Tripura’s strong commitment to the national mission against narcotics and highlights the proactive steps being taken at the grassroots level to counter drug-related challenges. The rally not only raised awareness but also sent a strong message that the fight against drugs is a shared responsibility that requires active participation from every section of society.
