Agartala, June 25 (Northeast Press):

In a compassionate gesture, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended financial assistance to the bereaved families of three teenage boys who tragically drowned in a pond at the MB Tilla area of Agartala. The aid was disbursed as part of the Chief Minister’s weekly public grievance redressal programme, Mukhyamantri Samipeshu, held on Monday, June 24.

The victims—Bobby Shukla Das, Shubhrajit De, and Shubham Deb—had gone to bathe in a large pond on June 17. The pond, located on land belonging to the agriculture department and recently cleaned and consecrated for public use by the Agartala Municipal Corporation through a Ganga Puja on June 13, proved fatal for the three teenagers who were unaware of the water’s depth and unable to swim.

The tragic incident left the families devastated, prompting a swift and sensitive response from the Chief Minister. Dr. Saha personally met with the next of kin of the deceased and handed over financial assistance of ₹4 lakh to each family. Offering his condolences, he acknowledged the profound loss and urged the families to use the aid to support their future in memory of their loved ones.

“The loss is irreparable and deeply tragic, but sometimes destiny leaves us with no answers,” Dr. Saha said, while comforting the grieving family members. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to standing by citizens during times of distress.

The Mukhyamantri Samipeshu initiative continues to serve as a vital outreach platform through which financial support is provided to patients, students, and families facing unexpected tragedies, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to welfare and compassion.
