Tipra Motha Supporters Allegedly Attack BJP Workers in Asharam Bari During ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Program
Agartala / Khowai, July 27, 2025 — At least six Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers sustained injuries, two critically, following an alleged assault at Asharam Bari in the Khowai district of Tripura. According to BJP sources, a group of around 100 individuals, identified as Tipra Motha supporters, reportedly launched a sudden attack during a local “Mann Ki Baat” gathering, using sharp weapons, lathis, bricks, and bottles.
The incident took place around booth number 30, where BJP members, including the local Mandal president Jayanta Debbarma, had convened to listen to the Prime Minister’s address. He alleged that around 50 individuals vandalised multiple vehicles—bikes and cars—and physically attacked party workers.
“Six Karyakartas suffered serious injuries to the head, mouth, and chest,”
he said.
Meanwhile, Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has categorically denied any involvement by his party members. He blamed the opposition CPI(M) for orchestrating the assault. According to him, residual political feuds may have led to a false attribution of blame on Tipra Motha associates.
Forest Minister and MLA for Asharambari, Animesh Debbarma, echoed a similar position. He insisted that Tipra Motha had no role in the violence and suggested the episode may have been a plot to tarnish the party’s reputation. Debbarma confirmed plans to visit the site to oversee the investigation and demanded legal action against the perpetrators.
