PM Modi Hails India’s Health Milestone, Praises Armed Forces and Highlights Cultural Pride in Latest ‘Mann Ki Baat’

New Delhi, June 29:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through the 123rd episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ today, highlighting India’s major strides in health, social security, cultural pride, and national security.

In a significant achievement, PM Modi announced that the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared India free of Trachoma, a contagious eye disease that once plagued millions in the country. He lauded the tireless efforts of health workers and the success of government initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission for contributing to this milestone.

Citing a recent report from the International Labour Organization (ILO), PM Modi noted that over 64% of India’s population now benefits from some form of social security. This reflects a massive jump from under 25 crore beneficiaries in 2015 to nearly 95 crore today. He emphasized how government schemes have transformed the social safety net landscape in India.

The Prime Minister also shared highlights from this year’s International Yoga Day, noting the widespread participation across India and the world. From Delhi’s Yamuna banks to the Chenab Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, where ITBP jawans performed yoga on snow-clad peaks, the celebrations resonated with the theme

‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.

PM Modi hailed the Indian Army’s valour during the precise ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Pakistan and praised the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s initiative to develop the Sindoor Forest in honour of the operation’s bravehearts.

Recalling the dark days of the Emergency imposed 50 years ago, PM Modi saluted those who fought to protect India’s democracy and constitutional values. He urged citizens to remain vigilant in safeguarding democratic institutions.

PM Modi also highlighted Meghalaya’s Eri Silk, which recently received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. He praised the Khasi community for preserving this unique, eco-friendly silk tradition, describing it as perfect for global markets due to its ‘Ahinsa’ (non-violence) origins.

PM Modi lauded a Pune family dedicating their holidays to protecting forests, planting trees, and improving habitats for birds. He also praised scientist Shubhanshu Shukla for his contributions to India’s space sector.
