Bishalgarh, August 9: Justice was delivered today in a case that shocked the Kamalasagar community. The Vishalgarh District Court has sentenced Bhakta Munda to life imprisonment and rigorous imprisonment for brutally murdering his friend Janesh Munda inside the Kamalasagar tea estate in November 2023.
On November 23 last year, the two friends were returning home after their wedding. On the way, an argument broke out and escalated into a fight. In an uncontrollable rage, Bhakta picked up a brick and hit Janesh on the head, resulting in his instant death. The horrific incident took place in front of locals, who later provided crucial information to the police.
The court convicted Bhakta under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with the punishment for murder. Under this section, the punishment can range from life imprisonment to death penalty, depending on the gravity of the crime. In this case, the court has awarded life imprisonment with rigorous imprisonment.
Public Prosecutor Ripon Sarkar said the verdict was possible due to strong evidence and credible witness statements. He welcomed the verdict, saying it was a stern warning against violence arising from personal disputes.
This tragic case stands as a grim reminder of the irreparable harm caused by uncontrolled anger and the need to resolve conflicts through peaceful dialogue rather than violence.
