Agartala, June 26 (Northeast Press):

In a deeply tragic and unsettling incident, a Class IX student of Auxilium Girls School in Agartala died under mysterious circumstances late Tuesday night at the Accountant General’s (AG) Quarters complex in the 79-Tilla area of the city.

The deceased, identified as 15-year-old Abri Das, was found with severe injuries near the under-construction building inside the AG Quarters campus. According to family sources, around 11 PM on Tuesday, Abri’s mother, along with neighbors, discovered her lying critically injured on the ground near a four-storey building currently under construction within the complex.

She was immediately rushed to the Trauma Centre at GB Pant Hospital in a critical state and placed on ventilator support. Unfortunately, despite all medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Wednesday.

Abri, described by her parents as a brilliant and disciplined student, had last been seen around 8:10 PM when she left her study area and went to the kitchen, presumably to eat something. Her mother, engaged in online teaching at the time, noticed her absence only later in the evening. After a frantic search of their home and the surrounding quarters with the help of neighbors, they located her grievously injured body near the construction site.

Speaking to the media, Abri’s father, Palash Das, an employee of the AG office, said the family is shattered by the loss of their only daughter. Her mother strongly ruled out the possibility of suicide, claiming Abri was not the kind of person who would take such a step. She has alleged foul play and demanded a thorough investigation and justice for her daughter.

Police have registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case and initiated an investigation. Officials stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received. “We are looking into every possible angle. At this stage, nothing can be ruled out until we have forensic and autopsy findings,” a senior police official said.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality and raised serious concerns over security and supervision within government residential complexes. The mortal remains of Abri Das were handed over to her family on Wednesday afternoon after the autopsy for the last rites.
